Microsoft (MSFT.O) will not roll out “Recall,” an AI-powered feature that tracks computer usage, with its new computers next week due to privacy concerns.
Instead, it will preview the feature with a smaller group via the Windows Insider Program (WIP) in the coming weeks.
Recall, which tracks web browsing and voice chats, will now be tested by WIP users before being made available to all Copilot+ PC users. This decision reflects Microsoft’s commitment to a secure and trusted user experience.
Privacy concerns were raised following the announcement, with some users fearing potential spying and Elon Musk comparing it to a “Black Mirror episode.”
