Morocco Continues to Strengthen Offshoring Investments and Digital Growth in 2024
Moroccan Minister for Digital Transition, Amel Saghrouchni, confirmed that the country is achieving significant success in the development of offshoring investments, with a total value of 17 billion Moroccan dirhams, marking a 25% increase in 2024.
In her statements, Saghrouchni highlighted that Morocco is witnessing numerous pioneering initiatives in the digital sector, including the enhancement of technology investment funds. She pointed out that the kingdom is capable of attracting more foreign investments in the field of digitization.
Digital Transformation Strategy: Startup Growth and Innovation
Saghrouchni added that the development of startups relies on continuous innovation and development. She emphasized that Morocco has launched a digital transformation strategy for 2030, which focuses on digital development through the digitization of various sectors and integrating artificial intelligence into these processes. She explained that this strategy includes several practical measures to support startups, including establishing a comprehensive policy for startups and ensuring continuous funding from the idea stage to the growth stage. The strategy also includes regulations and laws that support innovation.
Incentives to Encourage Digital Entrepreneurship
The Minister further stated that the Moroccan government is offering incentives to encourage skilled individuals to transition into digital entrepreneurship. These incentives include grants designed to help turn innovative ideas into tangible realities.
Morocco Leads North Africa in Attracting Technology Investments
Saghrouchni also pointed out that Morocco ranked sixth in Africa in terms of the total capital raised in the technology sector in 2024, with startups attracting funding of around $82 million. She clarified that Morocco leads North African countries, accounting for 75% of the total funds raised in the region. Additionally, it represents 36% of the total funds raised in French-speaking Africa.
