Telegram Allows Content Creators to Monetize Messages from Unknown Users

The messaging app Telegram has introduced a new feature for Telegram Premium subscribers, aimed at enhancing privacy and providing new ways to earn revenue.

With this update, Telegram Premium subscribers who receive a high volume of messages, such as content creators, can gain more control over their inbox. They can now charge fees for messages coming from users who are not in their contact list.

This feature allows users to earn Telegram Stars from senders who are not in their contacts. Telegram Stars are a method of payment for digital goods and services within the Telegram ecosystem.

In a statement about the new feature, Telegram said, “This ensures that only those who truly value your time can reach you, giving you full control over your inbox.”

The company added that this feature can also be applied to groups and channels, enabling administrators to focus interactions and prevent unwanted messages, as well as providing a way to monetize the communities they manage.

The “Messages for Stars” feature comes with customizable settings, allowing users to permit certain individuals or group members to send free messages. Users can also grant immediate exceptions by returning stars with a single click.

Previously, Telegram allowed Telegram Premium subscribers to block messages from unknown users. However, this feature was not sufficient for content creators and public figures with large followings. As a result, this new update addresses that need and provides them an opportunity to monetize incoming messages.
