The German postal company “Deutsche Post” has announced plans to cut 8,000 jobs by the end of this year as part of a strategy to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency. This move will affect about 4% of the employees in the domestic mail and parcel division, which employs 187,000 people, with assurance that the layoffs will be carried out responsibly and socially.
Additionally, the cost-saving program will extend to other areas within the global logistics giant “DHL,” of which “Deutsche Post” is the German branch, employing around 600,000 people worldwide.
In a related development, “Deutsche Post” and the “Verdi” union reached a collective bargaining agreement that includes a 5% wage increase and an additional day of vacation for employees. This agreement will be valid for 24 months and is expected to contribute to improving working conditions and motivating performance.
