Qatar to Host Mobile World Conference (MWC) for Five Years Starting in 2025
The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, has announced it will host the Mobile World Conference (MWC) in Doha for five consecutive years. This marks the first time the event will take place in the Middle East and North Africa. The official hosting agreement was signed by His Excellency Mohammed bin Ali Al-Manaei, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, and John Hoffman, CEO of the GSM Association (GSMA), during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona.
A Strategic Move for Qatar’s Digital Innovation
Minister Al-Manaei emphasized that the MWC will offer Qatar a unique opportunity to solidify its position as a global leader in digital innovation. The conference will provide a platform for collaboration among international companies and experts in telecommunications and technology. This aligns with Qatar’s National Vision 2030, which seeks to accelerate the country’s digital transformation.
Furthermore, hosting this event will help Qatar attract investments and support the implementation of its Digital Agenda 2030. As a result, it will stimulate economic growth and drive technological innovation across the Middle East and North Africa.
Key Topics at the Conference
The first edition of MWC in Doha will take place on November 25-26, 2025. The conference will highlight developments in mobile technology, artificial intelligence, fintech, and smart connectivity. Additionally, discussions will cover important topics such as digital inclusion, sustainability, and emerging technologies. These topics will provide valuable networking and knowledge-sharing opportunities for participants.
MWC’s Global Impact
The GSMA has hosted regional editions of MWC in cities such as Shanghai, Las Vegas, and Kigali to promote innovation in the telecommunications industry. MWC, held annually in Barcelona, is considered the largest and most influential event in the telecommunications sector. The 2024 edition attracted over 101,000 participants from 205 countries and regions, along with more than 2,700 exhibiting companies.
