Trump Hints at Possible Extension for TikTok Sale Deadline
On Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump said that it is “likely” he will extend the deadline for TikTok’s sale if no deal is reached by the specified time. Trump had issued an executive order in January extending the deadline for TikTok until April 1, requiring the company to sever ties with its Chinese parent company, ByteDance, or face a potential ban in the United States.
In response to a question about the potential extension, Trump stated that he does not see a need for an extension at this time, as TikTok still has a month left before the deadline. He added, “But if we need to extend, I probably will… We have a lot of interest in TikTok.”
